There’s a preconceived notion that it costs a lot of money to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Brands have taken advantage of health trends to upcharge their products, and the fitness classes you see your friends going to on Instagram often come with a hefty price tag. Here’s the truth: it doesn’t cost a lot of money to stay healthy, in fact, it costs more money to be overweight. At HOMEBODY we have outlined some of our best tips as to how to stay healthy on a dime.


Eating fresh produce

Fresh and organic produce is not that expensive if you know where to shop! There is a preconceived notion that organic food is the most expensive. While shopping from good farmers may not be as cost-effective as canned foods, it is so much better for your body. Organic produce’s prices are not a myth and they will return the favor for your body. We recommend trying to find smaller farm stands or produce stores instead of the big commercial grocery stores. Oftentimes, these independently-run stores will have better quality food and prices.


Smoothies

Smoothies are a great way to sneak in your nutrients. There are a plethora of smoothies you can make with all different types of ingredients. We recommend using frozen fruit to blend in your smoothie to create a thick consistency. You can add greens such as kale and spinach and fruits such as berries and bananas. There are also additives you can add to your smoothies such as superfood power and protein powders.
